Can I Get Botox and Fillers at the Same Time?

Can I Get Botox and Fillers at the Same Time?

Botox and fillers serve different functions, but they both have a common goal: rejuvenation.

While Botox smooths out wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles underneath, allowing the skin on top to stop creasing and creating lines, fillers smooth out lines by adding volume to the underlying structures.

Do you think you may benefit from both treatments? Below, we asked Dr. Charley Cheney, our expert at Complete Dental Arts, if you can have them done at the same time.

Can I get Botox and filler in one session?

Botox is a purified neurotoxin that blocks the nerve messages that tell your muscles to move. For this reason, it’s used to soften forehead lines and lines around the eyes.

Fillers, on the other hand, work on wrinkles that appear at rest and are caused by loss of volume in the face. These include lines on the cheeks, around the nose, and around the mouth.

Fillers can also add volume to the cheeks and lips and fill in the hollows below the eyes, and they can be used to fix asymmetry in the face.

Because Botox and fillers complement each other by serving different purposes, they can be used together. However, Botox wears off faster, so you may need another dose at the six-month mark, sometimes earlier. Fillers last 9-24 months.

Are Botox and fillers right for me?

The combination of Botox and fillers is often referred to as the “liquid lift” because it can often provide results as impressive as those of a facelift.

The ideal candidate for Botox and fillers has lines caused by movement and lines caused by loss of volume. Most people are good candidates for injectables, except those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those who have an active skin infection in the area they wish to treat.

Injectables come with few side effects, but combining both doesn’t increase the side effects experienced. You can expect to see some redness, bruising, and swelling at the injection site. However, these should go away on their own a couple of days after the treatments.
