Charley Cheney III D.M.D.

Charley Cheney III, D.M.D., is a highly skilled and dedicated dentist who treats patients at Complete Dental Arts in Newnan, Georgia.

Dr. Cheney graduated from Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, and earned his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.

After graduating, he spent 11 years serving in the United States Army, where he saw active duty as a general dentist at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was also deployed to Baghdad, Iraq.

Dr. Cheney went into private practice after completing his military commitment. He’s currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Orthodontic Society, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and the American Dental Association.

In his practice, Dr. Cheney treats every one of his patients with compassion, actively listens to their needs, and strives to develop trust in order to provide high-quality and personalized dental care.

Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Cheney is a strong proponent of giving back to the community. He’s a board member of the Summit Family YMCA, Chair, West Georgia Technical College Dental Assisting Program and former board member of the Samaritan Clinic of Coweta County where he continues to volunteer.

When he’s not working, he likes to spend time with his family, play ultimate frisbee, golf, and travel.

What’s the most rewarding part of my role:
The most rewarding part of my role is helping patients feel heard, supported, and confident in their care. Guiding them through treatment and seeing their transformation—both in their smile and their self-esteem—gives me a deep sense of fulfillment and reminds me why patient-centered care matters.

What is your favorite way to relax after work:
My favorite way to relax after work is by spending quality time with my family and our dogs. Whether we’re playing, going for walks, or simply enjoying each other’s company at home, this time helps me recharge, unwind, and maintain balance between work and personal life.

What do you hope patients feel when they leave?
I hope that when patients leave, they feel at ease, informed, and confident in their oral health. I strive to ensure they understand their treatment, feel supported throughout their visit, and walk away with peace of mind, knowing they are in caring and knowledgeable hands.

What makes this office special is the frequency at which we operate. We share a common goal of helping people, not just fixing teeth. We rely on one another, build off each other’s energy, and truly trust as a team. That frequency creates a warm, supportive environment where leaders grow and people feel genuinely cared for.

What do you want patients to feel when they leave an appointment?
I want patients to feel heard when they leave. Not every visit ends with an immediate result, but patients should feel safe sharing opinions and confident in our instructions. We welcome feedback, deliver thoughtful restorative care, and ensure patients leave prepared to thrive and return knowing they’ll be satisfied afterward.

What makes you smile at work?
What makes me smile at work is my attitude and the people I get to work with every day. I enjoy being challenged and growing through different experiences. I try not to take things personally, knowing we’re all human. Creating a warm, supportive space where others feel understood and safe truly makes my day.

What’s important to you when helping patients?
As healthcare professionals, we can sometimes become so focused on educating, instructing, and offering solutions that we forget to pause and listen. For me, what matters most is giving patients the space to express what they need, what concerns them most, and which issues they want addressed first. It is still important to be clinically correct, but care should feel personal and tailored. When patients feel heard, everything else becomes more effective.

One fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I love experimenting in the kitchen, especially putting my own twist on classic recipes. Sometimes it’s a hit, sometimes it’s a lesson learned but I always enjoy the process.

Why do patients feel comfortable here?
I believe patients feel comfortable here because the practice has a very warm, home-like atmosphere which makes it feel welcoming. Dr. C leads with kindness and approachability, which sets the tone for the whole team. It’s reflected in the rest of our team who are also very friendly and supportive. That positive and relaxed environment makes a big difference in how patients experience their visit.

What’s your favorite way to relax after work?
One of my favorite ways to relax after work is by spending time with my four cats. Feeding them and playing together helps me unwind, brings joy, and provides a calm, playful way to recharge after a busy day, balancing work with moments of simple happiness.

One fun fact about me
I love working as long as my favorite music is playing. Every day, before I start any task, I put on my Taylor Swift playlist. It sets the mood, boosts my focus, and makes even the busiest workdays feel enjoyable and productive.

What’s the most rewarding part of my role?
The most rewarding part of my role in insurance verification is discovering that a patient has excellent dental coverage. Knowing they can fully maximize their coverage and move forward with the dental care they need is incredibly fulfilling, especially when it helps ease their worries and gives them peace of mind.
